About Bilbao Exhibition Centre

BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) is a major exhibition venue in the Basque Country, located just outside Bilbao in Barakaldo. It covers around 251,000 sqm in total, with roughly 150,000 sqm of column-free exhibition space across six pavilions, and hosts fairs including BIEMH, Spain's leading machine-tool biennial, alongside the large Bizkaia Arena.

The venue

The six pillar-free pavilions, four of around 15,000 sqm and two of around 21,000 sqm, are joined by an 18,000 sqm Congress Centre, a VIP hall and a large atrium, plus underground parking for around 4,000 vehicles. The Bizkaia Arena is the largest multi-purpose hall in Spain, seating up to around 26,000. A large rooftop solar installation reflects the venue's sustainability investment.

Exhibiting and stand-building context

BEC's flagship BIEMH is a working-machinery fair, so stands run real machine tools with high floor loads, three-phase power and services, while other fairs bring more conventional builds. The column-free pavilions give designers flexibility, and the venue's technical rules govern floor loading, power and build-up. Given the machinery involved, exhibitors confirm hall placement and services planning well ahead.

Getting there

BEC is connected to Bilbao by metro (with a dedicated Ansio station nearby) and road, with Bilbao Airport a short drive away. Its position in the industrial heart of the Basque Country suits its strong manufacturing and machine-tool fair programme, drawing a specialist regional and international audience.
