About Hamburg Messe

Hamburg Messe is a centrally located exhibition venue in the heart of Hamburg, between the university and the Reeperbahn and beside the Planten un Blomen park. It offers around 87,000 sqm across eleven halls plus about 10,000 sqm of outdoor space, and hosts major fairs including SMM (the leading maritime trade fair), WindEnergy Hamburg and INTERNORGA.

The venue

The current site is the result of a major 2004-2008 expansion designed by architect Christoph Ingenhoven, giving a modern, light-filled hall complex right in the city centre, an unusual advantage among large fairgrounds. Its position next to a city park, close to the port, shopping district and many hotels, means exhibitors and visitors are within walking distance of central Hamburg.

Exhibiting and stand-building context

Hamburg Messe's flagship SMM brings heavy maritime exhibits and technical stands, while INTERNORGA adds foodservice builds with services, so stand briefs range from engineering displays to working hospitality stands. The central location makes load-in more constrained than out-of-town venues, running through the halls' dock schedule, and Hamburg Messe's technical rules govern build-up. Exhibitors confirm hall placement and logistics well ahead.

Getting there

The central position gives excellent public-transport access via U-Bahn and S-Bahn, with stations at the doorstep and Hamburg's main station and airport a short transfer away. For visitors, the walkable city-centre location is a distinctive benefit compared with peripheral fairgrounds.
