Messe Berlin, officially the Berlin ExpoCenter City, is one of Europe's historic exhibition grounds, laid out as a ring of halls around the landmark Funkturm radio tower and the Sommergarten in the west of the city. It offers around 170,000-190,000 sqm across its exhibition and event halls, plus roughly 100,000 sqm of open-air exhibition space, and hosts major fairs including IFA, ITB, InnoTrans and Fruit Logistica.
The venue
The grounds comprise more than two dozen interconnected halls arranged around the Sommergarten (summer garden), a 10,000 sqm central open space usable for displays and events. Historic structures such as the Palais am Funkturm and the Marshall-Haus sit alongside modern halls. The mix of indoor halls and substantial outdoor space is what allows InnoTrans to display full-size trains on outdoor track, one of the defining features of the venue.

Messe Berlin hosts a wide range of fair types, from consumer-electronics spectacle (IFA) to heavy transport technology (InnoTrans) and destinations hospitality (ITB), so stand briefs vary widely. The ring layout means hall placement affects both footfall and the indoor-outdoor interface, and the venue's technical guidelines govern rigging, power and outdoor builds. Exhibitors confirm hall and, where relevant, outdoor-track placement well in advance.
Getting there
The grounds are well served by Berlin's transport network, with S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations and the Messe Berlin regional stop close to the entrances, plus proximity to the city's ring road. Central Berlin and both airports are reachable by public transport, which helps handle the very high visitor numbers during IFA and ITB.
