About Stockholmsmässan

Stockholmsmässan is the largest exhibition and congress centre in the Nordic region, located in Älvsjö just south of central Stockholm and owned by the City of Stockholm. Founded in 1942, it offers around 70,000 sqm of indoor exhibition space within a roughly 114,000 sqm facility, and hosts fairs including the Stockholm Furniture Fair, a landmark of Scandinavian design.

The venue

The venue combines large exhibition halls with around 76 meeting and conference rooms, a dozen restaurants and cafés, and capacity for up to around 27,000 people. It is strongly sustainability-focused, ISO 20121-certified and recycling or reusing some 98% of its waste, with digital infrastructure across the whole site, characteristics well aligned with the design-led, environmentally-conscious fairs it hosts.

Exhibiting and stand-building context

Stockholmsmässan's flagship Stockholm Furniture Fair sets a distinctly Scandinavian standard for stand design: clean, material-honest, well-lit builds that let furniture and materials speak. The venue's sustainability certification also shapes expectations around reusable, low-waste stands. Its technical rules govern build-up, and exhibitors confirm hall placement and design ahead of each edition.

Getting there

The centre is easily reached by commuter train from Stockholm Central Station to Älvsjö in around 10 minutes, followed by a short walk, with additional bus and road access and Stockholm Arlanda Airport serving international visitors. This straightforward rail link supports the venue's large fair and congress audiences.
